Couples Counseling
Most relationships, including strong marriages, may experience emotional disconnection at some point, or a sense of being “stuck” in negative patterns of interaction. Typically, this disconnection may lead partners to express their needs and fears in the form of a protest, which ends up creating more distance between them. As a trained emotionally focused therapist, I can help couples identify their emotional needs, and the negative cycle that interferes in their ability to communicate effectively. Most importantly, I can help couples feel validated and articulate their needs and emotions using healthier patterns of interaction, which will improve their intimacy, and will allow them to become emotionally accessible, responsive, and engaged.
Emotionally Focused therapy (EFT) is an experiential model and one of the most empirically-validated approaches in the treatment of relationship distress. For more information on EFT, I encourage you to visit the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy’s website.
